Mary Valletta, MD, JD, FAAP is a Gator through and through. She completed her undergraduate and her law degree from the University of Florida prior to obtaining her medical degree in 2001. She graduated from medical school Alpha Omega Alpha and received the Mary Soloway Memorial Awards in excellence in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. While at UF Health, Dr. Valletta, sat on several committees such as the Pediatric QI and Management Committee, the Shands Children's Hospital at UF Executive Committee, and the Children's Miracle Network Leadership Committee. As a hospitalist, Dr. Valletta lectured pediatric residents and medical students. She would oversee the care of hospitalized children on the pediatric floors as well as pediatric ICU. Dr. Valetta has been board certified in pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 2004. Her dream is to see a community hospital built in Chiefland and develop an inpatient pediatric practice as well. Dr. Valetta enjoys spending her free time bicycling with her husband or riding horses. She is a proud mother of two grown children, Christie and John, who are pursuing their own independent careers.
