John O’Donnell is a Physician Assistant who is originally from Colonia, New Jersey. He did his undergraduate college at Seton Hall University where he majored in biology and achieved a minor in religion. He then moved to Old Town, Florida in 1990 and began pursuing a career in medicine. He went to Santa Fe Community College, received his degree in X-ray Technology, and then went on to become a Radiation Therapist treating cancer patients. At this point in his career, he felt he knew he could be doing more for patients, and he went on to become a Physician Assistant at the University of Florida. He graduated in May of 1997 and started working for the Family Health Center. He later transitioned to Palms.
John has also gone back to school since graduating from PA school and received his master’s degree from the University of Nebraska in August of 2004. John sees all age patients at Palms. He has extensive training in pediatrics, and emergency medicine. He had worked in both emergency rooms in Lake City for many years before getting mobilized with the military. John has been serving in US Army since August of 2000, he holds the rank of Major, and has been mobilized 3 times. He has been awarded the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal during his last deployment and has 5 Army Commendation Medals.
John lives with his family in Live Oak, his wife Connie, daughter, Hannah and son John Jr. The O’Donnell’s have an extended family of pets which include several outside dogs. They also have inside pets which include a 3-legged cat, Meow Meow, a neurotic Maltese named Freako; and a female Maltese named Butter. John’s family likes to spend time outdoors on the river or at the farm.
